American School of Valencia is pleased to announce that our school has successfully completed the journey to officially become an Eco-School. ADEAC -the European entity granting these recognitions- confirmed on June 10, 2026 the approval of the external audit and the concession of the Green Flag for a period of three years. This distinction is both “a recognition of an excellent work developed, but also an invitation to continue growing as a sustainable and responsible school”, representatives from ADEAC stated in their communication.
“The Green Flag is the greatest encouragement we could receive to continue moving forward on this path and to ensure that our students feel part of a collective effort that transcends the boundaries of our school,” Assistant Director Mr. Frechina stated after receiving the official communication. “We are convinced that major environmental challenges can only be faced through the sum of sustained local actions, connected across a network of communities committed to a more sustainable future. Fostering citizens committed to taking care of the planet is one of the most vital tasks in education, and we will continue working to ensure that these values remain an integral part of the daily life of our school”, he added.
The application to be certified as an Eco-School is part of the ASV SDG implementation plan initiated in 2021-2022 which has been led by the ASV Eco-Committee and has transformed through student-agency significant areas of the school activity in the use of clean energy, the reduction of food waste and littering and the increase of recycling.
Accreditation Visit
The Eco-School Accreditation Visit took place on June 3, 2026 by welcoming Ms. Virginia Chaparro, a representative of the Eco-Schools Program. After hearing from the ASV Eco-Committee leaders, Ms Chaparro toured the campus to witness the green areas, the solar panels, the green transportation parking and the kitchen and water fountains, and offered some ideas on how to improve our sustainability.
