ASV Athletic Teams in Action: Winning the ASV Way

This week saw a host of ASV Junior Varsity and Varsity teams in action both in Spain and abroad. Following on from the success of our girls volleyball team that won the Sportsmanship Trophy in Berlin, our boys volleyball team replicated this achievement in Tenero, Switzerland.

Within Spain, ASV’s boys soccer team competed in Barcelona, two boys basketball teams in Madrid and two girls soccer teams played at a tournament hosted by ASV at the fields in the Turia below the Exposicion Bridge.

ASV’s boys soccer team were defeated once as they maintained their place in Division 1 of the European Sports Conference (ESC). Both our boys basketball teams were runners-up in the Iberian League tournaments hosted by the American School of Madrid.

The ASV Girls Varsity Soccer Team Wins the ESC Tournament Hosted by ASV

In the ESC Girls Soccer Tournament hosted by ASV, the Junior Varsity team conducted themselves very well and was awarded ASV’s third Sportsmanship Trophy of the weekend. The Varsity Team went undefeated throughout the tournament and came through a tense penalty shootout to be crowned European Sports Conference Division 2 Champions. The team are now promoted and will compete in next year’s Division 1 Tournament. This tournament will live long in the memory for the outstanding support from ASV parents in providing snacks and support not only for ASV players but also our visiting players and coaches.
