Global Exchange Programs

American School of Valencia offers students in Grades 7 through 10 the opportunity to participate in one of our exciting Global Exchange Programs. Students selected for this program will travel to the United States to attend an American school where they are hosted by a local school family.

During their stay in the United States, students will have an opportunity to participate in the daily life of the school and their host family that includes extracurricular activities, enjoying local attractions, and experiencing American and international culture, language and education. In return, their American counterpart in the exchange school will visit ASV and Valencia during a separate time during the academic year.

The goals of the ASV Global Exchange Programs are:

  • Fostering international-mindedness through cultural and educational experiences
  • Experiencing American and international family life, culture, language and education
  • Learning to face challenges, take risks and foster individual autonomy
  • Serving as an exemplary ambassador of ASV, Valencia, Spain and the student’s family

Global Exchange Programs for 2017-2018

During the 2017-2018 Academic Year, ASV offers two Global Exchange Program options in conjunction with the Community School of Naples and Foxborough Regional Charter School.  The exchange with CSN is open to students in Grades 7 through 10 and the exchange with FRCS is open to students in Grades 9 and 10.

Eligible students may apply for only one Global Exchange Program per year. Those students who participated in previous CSN or FRCS Global Exchanges may apply to participate again; however, primary consideration will be provided to first time applicant, as well as space availability.

Interested ASV students must submit a fully completed and signed application (also available above), a well-written essay and provide a copy of a valid passport, no later than Friday, October 13, 2017 at 16:30 to Ms. Haynes – our High School Secretary (applications may also be submitted earlier than the deadline above).

A rubric is provided to inform students how each application will be evaluated by the application review committee.

All applicants will be informed by email of his/her selection by Friday, October 20, 2017.
