A Look at Grades 7 and 8 Artwork

Students in grades 7 and 8 rotate through Music and Art experiencing a well-balanced approach to both subjects. Late in November, the Art groups completed a first set of projects which now are being displayed inside and outside the Art Room.

Grade 8 students discussed the complex relationship between nature and technology in our increasingly technology-driven world. These young artists were challenged to respond creatively using mixed media and a combination of life drawing and imaginative drawing to communicate their views on this contemporary issue.

Grade 7 students studied positive and negative space as well as the mathematical concepts of symmetry and reflection in order to produce visually striking, high contrast abstract artworks. Students were challenged to explore with color and mixed media, and to develop their paper cutting technique.
