During the first term the grade 7 & 8 Social Studies students have been studying about ancient Greece. They have been exploring topics such as Greek Gods, mythology, early trade and economics, forms of government and the lives of the citizens.
A few weeks ago the students were presented with a project idea which would have them creating a board game about life in ancient Greece. The team of students quickly organized themselves in smaller groups which would be responsible for writing rules and objectives of the game, researching information for the question cards, creating the board’s physical features to represent ancient Greece, and making characters. All decisions were made in a democratic way.
To celebrate the first day of playing the game the students were treated to a taste of Greek food from a popular Greek stand in the central Market. Everyone enjoyed themselves as they were learning by doing!
