High School Principal Announcement

I am pleased to announce the appointment of ASV’s new High School Principal, Mr. Christopher M. Johnson.

Mr. Johnson comes to the American School of Valencia after serving as the Principal and Assistant Principal at the Academy of Math and Science in Phoenix, Arizona (USA).  Prior to his work at the Academy of Math and Science, Mr. Johnson served as a Curriculum Coordinator in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), and as an English teacher and teacher trainer in Sevilla and Salamanca, Spain.

Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English and Political Science from the University of Arizona, a Postgraduate Teacher Certification in Secondary Education from Pima Community College, a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction from Plymouth State University, and a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership from the University of Arizona.  He holds multiple certifications as a Principal, English and Social Studies Teacher, an International Baccalaureate (IB) Certificate in Teaching and Learning from Bethel University, and a CELTA certification to teach English as a foreign language. In addition, he is proficient in Spanish.

Mr. Johnson will be relocating to Valencia in late-August 2017 with his wife, Ms. Karyna Samaniego, who will serve as a Middle School Language Arts and High School English teacher.

In accepting the position as the High School Principal, Mr. Johnson remarked,

 

“I am honored to have been selected as High School Principal of ASV, which is well known for its academic excellence, quality extracurricular programs, and sending students to top universities across Spain, NorthAmerica and Europe. I welcome the opportunity to serve the school’s learning and teaching community and look forward to working with our students to continue the outstanding work at the American School of Valencia. Karyna and I are very excited to meet everyone and get to know the students, staff, and parents that make up the ASV school community.”
