Students in Grade 12 Visited the European Parliament

A group of students in grade 12 travelled to Brussels (Belgium) to visit the main site of the European Parliament with Dr. Kristy Beam and Ms. Fe Valero leading the expedition. The tour on Friday, January 15, included a guided visit to representative places such as the Plenary Hall, where the institution holds the most important meetings, as well as other areas and the Parlamentarium, a nearby building used as Visitors’ Centre.

The Parliament is a co-legislator body at the European Union, sharing with the Council the power to adopt and amend legislative proposals and to decide on the EU budget. This visit was an optional activity offered to students in grade 12 interested in learning more about the EU and the integration process of European nations. The trip was incardinated in the European Parliament’s Open House practices, which provide free entrance and guidance to individuals, groups and schools.
